modify
v.  更改, 修改; 修饰; 缓和, 减轻


1.He'll have to modify his views if he wants to be elected.
他要想当选就得把观点改得缓和些.
2.The union has been forced to slightly modify its position.
工会被迫稍稍改变立场。
3.Adverbs generally modify verbs.
副词一般修饰动词。







mood
n.  心情, 情绪, 心境; 喜怒无常; 心情不好, 生气
搭配:be in mood for...有做某事的心情


1.His mood suddenly changed and he became calm.
他的情绪突然一变, 冷静了下来.
2.He's in no mood for (telling) jokes/to tell jokes.
他没心情说笑话.
3.I am not in the mood to argue.
我没有心情争辩。
4.The mood of the music was almost funereal.
音乐的调子几乎像哀乐。







necessity
n.  需要, 必然, 必需品
搭配:be in necessity处于贫困的境地
      out of necessity出于需要


1.It was done under the pressure of the necessity.
这件事是在迫切需要的情况下而做的。
2.Necessity is the mother of invention.
需要是发明之母。
3.Television is considered a necessity by a lot of people.
许多人认为电视是一件生活必需品。
4.This family is in great necessity.
这户人家穷困到极点。






nerve
n. 神经;神经过敏; 神经紧张;勇气; 胆量
v. 鼓起勇气
搭配:get on sb.'s nerve 惹得某人心烦
      lose one's nerve 失去勇气,不知所措


1.What a nerve! 
真是厚颜无耻!
2.She had the nerve to say I was cheating.
她竟敢说我作弊,太放肆了。
3.You got a nerve to do that to me. 
你竟有脸对我干出这种事。
4.I nerved myself to face my accusers.
我下决心迎击指责我的人。
