China says sends ambassador back to Libya
Oct 28 (Reuters) - China's ambassador to Libyareturned to Tripoli on Friday, the government announced, adding that Beijingwanted to have good ties as the North African country embarked upon a newphase in its history.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry, in a brief statement on itswebsite (www.mfa.gov.cn), said Wang Wangsheng had already arrived back inLibya.
The people of Chinaand Libyahave a traditional friendship,ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu said in the statement.
Libya is facing a new phase in its history, and China is willing to develop friendly cooperation with Libya for the benefit ofboth peoples on the basis of mutual respect, euality and mutual benefit,she said.
China had a strained relationship with Libya's interimgovernment after Beijing's frosty reaction to NATO-led air strikes and attemptsby Chinese firms to sell weapons to former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.
But it says ties with the major oil producer are back tonormal.
